With the beginning of a new year, comes the start of a new resolution! The most common New Year’s resolution is to live a healthier lifestyle. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to change your life for the better. Get your kids involved and start the year off with some healthy habits for the whole the family!
Get Your Kids Involved
It may seem impossible to get your kids to eat healthier, especially when they have a sweet tooth. At a young age, it may be easier to encourage healthy eating habits if you eat healthy right along with them, so it will be a team effort. Here are some tips to get your kids involved with a healthy resolution:
Plan and prepare meals to bring out your child’s inner chef.
Buy an assortment of healthy snacks so they have options. This will give them the freedom to make their own decisions.
Don’t quit if they don’t like trying new foods! New foods may be tricky to enforce if you have a picky eater, but by exposing them to new foods consistently, they may bite!
Be a role model and show healthy eating habits to your child, plus you will be able to stick to your New Year’s resolution!
Have family dinners as much as possible! This will provide frequent eating habits and a routine.
Stay away from arguments over food and don’t bribe with desserts! This will create desserts to appear as an award. Healthy desserts, like frozen yogurt popsicles and fruit parfaits are an excellent way to introduce healthier desserts that taste great!
